The 2014 golf season is upon us and we have now held our respective men’s and ladies opening days to kick things off!
We began last Wednesday with our mid-week opening competition that featured another scrumptious pre-golf BBQ by the Italians! The competition was a Sicilian Team Stableford event won by George and Chad Priolo, and Guy and Anthony Capolingua on a team score of 125!
Thursday 6th March featured the Ladies Opening Day and a four ball ambrose event that was won by Sue Tregonning, Eve Vojcik, Lee Cassidy, and Sue Stevens. A great day was had by all and we wish all the ladies a fantastic season.
Saturday 8th March was our Opening Day featuring the President’s Cup Opening Day Trophy. The morning competition was a 4BBB event and was won by Derek Morrow and George Latouff with an excellent score of 49 points! We also farwelled our ‘Honorary Australian’ Iwai Takeshi who has moved back to Japan after seven years in Perth. He will stay as a ‘Country’ member of the Club and fellow member Colin Prior drew a cartoon of Iwai at the Club as a memento.
The afternoon comp and the 2014 President’s Cup was won by Greg Forbes and Shane List with a score of 46 on a countback.
Finally, Sunday 9th March featured our Mixed Opening event, The Progress Bowl, sponsored by John and Gail Bayly. It is a mixed 4BBB Stableford competition and was won by Richard Ham and Eve Vojcik with a score of 45 points. A special thank you to John and Gail for their continued support of this season opening event.
