Wow, what a busy week! I am currently in the Gold Coast attending the 2014 Srixon Coaching Summit and was feeling so inspired, that I had to share with you all a tip this week!
After flying into Brisbane on Monday evening, I quickly visited the newly opened Brisbane Central driving range located near Brisbane airport to take the opportunity to look at some new technology that could be potentially used at Mount Lawley. The first day at the Summit was an early start with registration at 7:30am followed by talks from coaching greats from other sports John Buchanan (cricket) and David Wheadon (AFL) and two seminars from World Top 100 Golf Coach Henry Brunton. The day concluded with a Junior Golf Panel discussion that ran late into the evening.
Day 2 saw a more golf specific focus with some on course practical sessions and two very good sessions with Top 100 Clubfitter and Golf Coach James Leitz. These sessions were of a particular interest to me considering they were focused on the use of launch monitors such as Trackman and Flightscope and how they can benefit your clients. These sessions alone were worth the cost of the trip!
Today is day three and promises to be a very busy day with a focus on clubfitting with some practical sessions and also some demonstrations of the use of 3D systems in teaching.
As most club members know with conferences it is great learn about some new technological advances, get confirmation that a lot of what you are doing is inline with world best practices, but most importantly it gives you the opportunity to interact with your peers from all over Australia (and further afield) in an environment where you can bounce ideas off each other. This all helps to help provide an even better experience for your members once you get home. It is also very beneficial to see some of the latest pieces of technology that can assist in golf instruction, this was all set up in the trade area.
I look forward to seeing you all back on the practice tee when I’m back at work on Saturday.
