Part two from the 2014 Srixon PGA Coaching Conference discusses the importance of center contact particularly with the driver. A half inch deviation from center can have a dramatic effect on not only ball speed but also launch angle and spin rate – these three factors greatly influence distance and also accuracy.
An example from above could be a shot that is hit 3/4 inch towards the heel and 1/2 inch towards the sole of the club from center will decrease your ball speed by 9 miles an hour, lower your launch angle by 4 degrees and increase your spin on your drives by 762 rpm. 9 miles an hour of ball speed alone will rob you of approximately 25 meters.
