Members are advised that from next week, all handicap look-ups by Australian club members will be performed on the Golf Australia website (www.golf.org.au). Those golfers who go to the GOLF Link website to view their handicaps will automatically be redirected to www.golf.org.au (this includes where the look-up to the GOLF Link website is via a club software system).
The new handicap look-up box will be conveniently located at the top of all pages of www.golf.org.au. Simply enter your GOLF Link number and hit “Handicap look-up”.
This change does not require any action at all from golf clubs or Tier 3 third-party software providers.
The following services are unaffected and will continue to operate as normal:
- The Tier 1 website – continue to use your existing log-in details.
- The listing of handicaps within third-party club management software systems.
- GOLF Link mates.
The transfer of the handicap look-up to the Golf Australia website is a part of a significant development for Australian golf that was announced last November. This development sees the commercial rights to GOLF Link return to the sport’s governing body.
Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt encourages all golfers and administrators to look around the website after viewing their handicap to sample our other content and initiatives.
“It’s a real game-changer for golf in this country that Golf Australia regains the full rights to the GOLF Link program,” Mr Pitt said.
“We will be able to exert more influence on the service we provide to golfers and hopefully give them a great experience as they check movement in their handicap and playing results.
“It will strengthen our ability to invest in golf and help drive our important development programs such as MyGolf and Swing Fit.
“It will allow us to better communicate with golfers around the country and make golf stronger in Australia, so it’s a very important initiative.”
Golf Australia will continue using MPower MSL to service our GOLF Link system, and to collaborate on enhancements to the online experience of Australian golfers.
