Last week almost 70 women members contested the very popular Jo Brockman Senior Women’s Championship. Unfortunately, very difficult weather conditions for the first round on Tuesday saw a number of withdrawals but, surprisingly, the scores from those who battled the wind and rain were exceptionally good. Kerry Forbes threw down the gauntlet to everyone with a wonderful opening round of 68. She was followed by Kerry Hill 71, Kaye Wolfe 72, Deb Cox 73 and Cathy Cocks, Jennifer Stott, Cindy Stobart and Lyn Hancock who returned 74’s.
Thursday dawned much brighter and with promise of good scores and closely contested results. That is exactly what we got as we waited to see if the Tuesday bolters would be able to to keep up the pace they had set. The best scores for the day came from Michelle Duncan 73, Carol Clarey and Cathy Cocks 75, Jane Whelan, Hanny McArthur and Di Lloyd 76.

Kerry will be presented with her champion trophy at the Club Championship presentations on Sunday 24th October. The other winners will receive their trophies at the Women’s Closing Day on Thursday 28th October.
