There is talk in the world of golf instruction of the desire to “Zero Out” your swing, what does this mean? Zeroing out your swing is an attempt to neutralise both your club path and your clubface at impact.
Having a neutral path and clubface at impact helps to hit the ball straight, with the correct flight, get good distance gaps and control between clubs and maximise your distance.
Hitting the ball straight alone does not necessarily mean you have a square clubface and neutral path, yes that’s right we can’t know exactly what’s happening at impact just by the ball flight. For example an in to out swing with a closed clubface should produce a draw, however hitting the ball slightly in the heel will reduce the amount the ball will draw mishitting far enough in the heel can even lead to straight shot (with the associated loss of distance however)
Below is some examples of a recent lesson improving his swing shape and “Zeroing Out” something you can only track by using Flightscope.
