The Junior weekend clinics got off to a fantastic start since commencing in early February. The 8 week structured classes start from building the correct foundation for grip, set up and alignment to eventually educating new junior members the proper etiquette when on the golf course. We are currently in week four of the first term and are focusing on driver full swings, chipping and reviews with a skills test. The juniors are improving each week and it is fantastic to see parents involvement in lending a helping hand with activities such as the mini putting comps. The Club’s ultimate goal is to have a complete junior program where PeeWees can learn how to play golf in a fun, enjoyable environment and continue all the way to the elite junior pennant teams.

The clinics days and times are as follows;

– Junior members on Saturday at 2pm – 3pm

– Junior beginners (non members) on Saturday at 3pm – 4pm

– PeeWees (4 -10 years old) on Sunday at 9am – 10am

Leading the junior development program is PGA Professional and Mount Lawley member Ackzel Donaldson. Ackzel is a prime example of a Junior transitioning to a Professional by beginning golf at the Saturday junior clinics and slowly developed to a junior member, Junior Club Champion and finally Men’s Club Champion. A winner of multiple state amateur events and twice representing WA in the interstate series, he has vast experience in playing the game which combines well with his golf tuition. Ackzel is currently available for individual lessons 6 days a week which suits most members and has one goal in mind “help you understand YOUR golf swing”. He has also initiated a ‘Short Game Development’ program which is a 5 week clinic series open to all members commencing Monday, 23rd March from 5pm – 6pm.
